Thinking about it though, i'm not so sure there's a problem. That particular poem is gone, but its genes are probably still flying about somewhere in the pool. It could even concievably come back in a few different forms, or still be there somewhere in a slightly modified form.
I just had a quick estimate and average poem length seems to be about 3-4 lines. Shorter poems can have more impact compared to a few lines of nonsense, but where the longer poems actually make sense I find myself going for them. I think most people probably would. I wouldn't panic just because your favourite one died :)
