This would work technically, but I'm not sure it's a meaningful distinction. On the other hand, it would be interesting to provide IP as an input into the process and create the potential for speciation. If it turns out that poems speciated along IP lines...well, that would be damned curious.

: How about by visitor IP address? Your Apache box should be able to pull these up. This means that two poems favoured by IPs starting 180.x.x.x "mate" successfully, but not one from 60.x.x.x and the other from 62.x.x.x. More intrigue - poems from very near relations can "mate", but with an increased risk of mutation? (i.e. 62.30.0.x and 62.30.1.x)
