I guess in theory it would. But with these random snipping points, grammatical 'continuity' will be difficult to achieve, I think. Somehow poems with the same building blocks should appear and we'd have to leave out the place-swapping mutations to keep the nouns & verbs in their places.
It's hard to imagine.
I guess that's why David chose for Darwinian poetry over Darwinian prose. We accept more from a poet then from a prose writer (which is the reason some people are appalled by my non native English, although the poetry is, so far, worse).
