I wonder if having a straight yes/no choice at each breeding is the way to go about this. I thought a lot of evolution was supposed to spring suddenly out of variations which are of little or no selective advantage. In that sense, is the ranking system too hard? I also wonder if being given the choice of only two alternatives encourages snap judgments and will therefore favour shallow, easily read poems over those which are a little more obscure. What would happen if say 3 alternatives were presented and you had to rank them? Would this encourage more careful reading and would it be practical to code?
