I'd prefer that you keep the poem numbers just the way they are. I think it's really the generation number and not the poem number itself that is relevant to all this, and with the exception of numbers < 1200 there's only an unreliable correlation: eg. 6077 is gen 8 but 6078 is gen 5. You'd satisfy me by randomizing the poem numbers so they weren't assigned in order, but I'm not suggesting that...
And there are even more ways than mentioned below that someone determined might circumvent it, like searching for the text of the whole poem.
: Just an idea. Far simpler might be to retain the link but not announcing the number so overtly (until you link in, of course). It might be obvious if you hover over the link itself (or check the source of the page if it's done more serupticiously) but anyone spending their time doing that rather than making their mind up and going with their their heart is conciously making the decision to vote that way and probably won't be disuaded by little programming tricks like already mentioned...
