I have to wonder, though, if we only get bored with the bad phrases. I hate "sometime the life loved", but I still like "ships in cursive flocks" and "good golden berry", because they mean something.

The danger is that even the GOOD phrases will eventually seem boring because of their repetition. I don't know, though; I still read my favorite poems over and over again.

: After seeing a particular phrase too often, I do get bored with it and start being highly prejudiced against it. I don't know what this will mean for the long term, and it will probably be mediated by reviewer turnover. You know, newbie reviewers might be as fascinated by the phrase "sometime the life loved" as the earlier reviewers seem to have been.

: >too common, and then not chosen. Rather crudely >put, that. Sorry.

: I too find it difficult to string together a coherent sentence after a while of reading these Darwinian poems. This site can really do a number to the grammatical part of one's mind!
